What I’m Watching {7}

What I’m Watching is feature where I spotlight what I have been watching recently. Whether it be Movies, Television, or Documentaries, this is a space where I will feature what I have become obsessed with or what I just didn’t like at all! Television and Film are a major part of my life, too, and I just want them to be represented on my blog as well!

My movie watching has slowed down quite a lot over the last month since my 31 nights of horror. I have actually been catching up on a lot of TV. So this post will be more TV heavy. Enjoy!

New Releases:

The Circle: I’m not sure how I feel about this movie. It was definitely super creepy and rang my cult bells, but I just wish we got a little bit more development. There is a lot that could be addressed in a story like this, but this movie just decided to barely skim the surface. Not terrible, but not great.

All Eyez on Me: The editing and timing were all off. It made it really hard to watch. Which is sad, because I really wanted to enjoy this. They did well with the casting, and the music was obviously great. I just wish the writing/editing was better.

The Big Sick: ALL THE FEELS! Such a fantastic film! Funny, emotional, real…everything you want in a great movie. This just solidifies my love for Zoe Kazan. And Kumail really brought his life to life. Beautiful.

Speed: Still epic. Very 90’s, but still relevant and fun to watch. It was the first time I had seen it in a few years, and I still love it.

Daddy’s Home: This was funny enough. A little over the top (but what Will Farrell movie isn’t?). I think this is the first straight up comedy I have seen Markie Mark in. I will watch the sequel though.

The Accountant: I was puzzled until I wasn’t. That was solidly good. Intricate and complicated and weaved everything together beautifully.

Kingsman: The Secret Service: Even better the second time. Brilliant and hilarious and a great score!

Big Little Lies: This is so good, y’all. So incredibly intense, yet not a lot happens. It is just about the every day lives of  [upper class] women. But the acting is phenomenal. All the Emmy’s were well-deserved.

Jane The Virgin: Still one of my favorite shows, period. So funny, so honest, so real. Jane is everything!

Dancing With The Stars: YAY for the winner! Honestly this was one of the BEST seasons in recent years. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it every week!

How I Met Your Mother: Rewatching this has been an interesting experience. I recognized the first time watching it that there were some jokes that were not PC, but upon rewatching it I have recognized how fatphobic and transphobic this show is (particularly season 4). This show also sometimes borderlines on harrassment/assault. Just add this to the list of super problematic faves.

Survivor: This is by far the most boring season in a really long time. I watch it because I love Survivor, but I honestly don’t care about any of these people.

This Is Us: This season is just as heart-wrenching as the first season. MY EMOTIONS! This is so incredibly good, though!

I am prepping for my #25daysofChristmasMovies marathon, so any suggestions you have for that would be much appreciated.
