My Summer of Series (And other books on my TBR)

Laura had a great idea to spend this summer catching up on series reads. I have spent the better part of the last year reading and listening standalone novels. I have been accruing series books that I want to read or need to finish for a while, and summer seems like the perfect time to focus on getting through my series TBR. And trust me, I have a lot!

Fiction Series:

I have actually already started my summer of series with Marie Lu’s Legend trilogy. I originally read the first two books when Prodigy was published back in 2013, but I never got around to reading the third book. Currently I am almost finished with book 2, and it is just as quick-paced as I remembered. I kind of forgot what it was like to get involved in a sci-fi, dystopia adventure story.

Here are some of the other series I want to try and tackle over the next two months! (Covers are first in the series and link to Goodreads.)

All six of these are series that have been on my TBR since they came out. I haven’t read that many fantasy and sci-fi series lately, so it’ll be nice to get back into some of them. Jeff Vandermeer and Leigh Bardugo are both going to be at Decatur Book Festival in September, so I am especially excited to try those!

These three are parts of a trilogy that I have started but haven’t finished. These seem like great summer reads too, so double the fun!

I have heard that both of these series are fantastic on audio, and they are a break away from my typical audiobooks, which helps me read wider. I actually started The Cuckoo’s Calling as my “walk the dog” audio and so far, so good.

Comics Catch-Up:

This is where I left off with all of these series. It’s been a while since I have played catch-up with these series, so I am really excited to delve back in. I have neglected these worlds for too long!

Decatur Book Festival Reading:

The Decatur Book Festival is held every year over Labor Day weekend in Decatur, GA. It is one of my favorite weekends of the year. This year the line up is STACKED! I cannot WAIT for this event. Of course, it does give me a lot of other reading I need to accomplish before then, but that’s what the next 7 weeks are for!

I am excited for my summer reading! I plan on reading a lot more over the next two weeks, especially during the #24in48 readathon July 22-23. So let my intense summer reading plans begin! 🙂

What is on your summer reading list? Where do you recommend I start?
